Rick is describing a squeaking noise, typically a frayed belt doesn't cause this very common dryer problem. The drum sits on a set of rubber rollers attached to posts located on the back and occasionally the front of the dryer. These rollers (they look like an in-line skate wheel) sometimes need replacing, but more often than not you can just clean them up with a little steel wool and lithium grease.

It's a little early for bearing to be wearing out. I'd check the:

Drive Belt

If the dryer makes noise, the belt may be frayed or damaged. If the belt is damaged, it will make noise every time it travels around the pulleys. The drive belt is a long, narrow band that wraps around the entire drum, then around a tension pulley and the motor pulley.
