How do you remove button inserts?

I am doing a colour conversion for my sister on her iphone 4, I have bought a new bezel but unfortunatly the buttons that have been supplied dont have the little metal inserts. Please can someone show me how to remove these from the original buttons so I can put them in new ones.

Use a little heat from a hair dryer and wedge them out with a little blade
