Hi,
I've tried to repair a broken MacBook but I've also broken the keyboard ribbon connector. Now the laptop doesn't power up. Is there another way to power up it?

Hi, If the problem is that you have broken the connector on the logic board the most reliable fix is to replace the logic board. However some people have had some luck making as good contact as possible and taping the cable in place. Sometimes it works - sometimes it doesn't. If the problem is the cable itself you have an easier and less expensive solution. Replace the cable.Good luck. Ralph

yes - there is another way to start the MacBook
look at the picture - above the middle yellow box - you can read pwr btn - the actual contacts are left from it - left from the 490 - there are 2 contacts, separated with a thin white line - thats the "power button" - short the contacts with a small screwdriver and the MacBooks starts without the topcase attached - but thats only good for repair or modding issues - not for "regular work" - and of course - take care not to touch anything else with the screwdriver - except you love the smell of burnt electronics in the morning *bzzzzt-bzzzzt* ;-)

only a question... the contacts are the two on the left you have marked? because I don't understand where I have to lie the screwdrver..
I updated the picture for you. the original was from ifixit. i think you will find the contacts now.
wait hang on are you ment to just poke the white line inbetween the bits of solder i think i have the same prob my keybords not working wamt to make sure it is only the keyboard before i buy another one
