broken power button on my iPod Touch

I need the power button on my iPod Touch 1st generation fixed

I fixed it i went to ifixit.com and bought a rear panel for my 1st generation iPod Touch

thats how you fix the power button on it

good that it worked for you. i asked because sometimes the golden spring breakes away and then you can't simply change the rear panel to fix it. but as i said - glad that it workes again

there is a small metal clip when you open up the ipod touch 1st generation back panel its a little golden clip next to the ribbon that connects the digitizer here is a picture:

If that Clip isn't there then thats your problem I recently had this problem I had used the metal piece from a pencil I cut it with scissors and folded it and placed it in its place and closed it up after that it worked fine.

also umm you can fix the power issue with a paper clip just move it around until you hear sparks while holding the home button

i have exactly the same problem, mine also was dropped and the back pannel fell off, i clicked it back on and the button was sometimes working and sometimes not, but now its stopped working all together.

thanks jpinheiro1993 this worked for me. the little bugger is fidgety though so if the rest of your i pod is opened watch for that thing it will fall out if your not careful.

hahahahaha i have the exact problem the little metal part was nt there so once i heard that they fixed it with paper clips n stuff like that i got a metal needle and just placed it where the little metal part is supposed to be and wiggled it and it turned off
