Hi Kimberly, if you follow the link highlighted that Sophia has provided you, you can purchase a new headphone jack should you find that the one currently installed is damaged in some way preventing optimal performance. If you feel comfortable or know someone that may provide assistance, you can follow the guide here below:

Samsung Galaxy S4 Headphone Jack Assembly Replacement

Many times when a cable is plugged into the device and gets yanked or bend at weird angles normally not suited for how the cable is plugged in the inside can be bent or damaged over time. If you have any further questions please feel free to ask :)

Ok, after some research I found out that this is a common occurence with the Samsung Galaxy 4. Many have heard popping and distortion with the headphones especially towards the maximum volume. The solution a lot of people had found, as well as tested on multiple Samsung Galaxy 4 phones, was all that was needed was a firmware update that Samsung had actually fixed due to a software issue. I would suggest doing that first before anything else as many people believed it to be a hardware issue, but just needed a firmware update. Let me know if this solves your problem and I will continue to help you with further guidance.

First, make sure your earphone is ok.

If it's okay, there may be something wrong with your headphone jack.

Have a good luck!
