Coffee spill wont turn on, no power at all

A friend spelt coffee on his keyboard and it looks like its gone through the entire laptop.

He supposedly tried to turn it back on while it had liquid inside so I'm not to sure how much damage has been done.

He left it overnight to dry but obviously no luck. I opened it up and the coffee is dried on the logic board and HDD,cd drive ect.

If I clean the logic board and connectors and whatever else has had coffee on it with isopropyl alcohol is the laptop salvageable or is it most likely dead?

His main concern really is the HDD and whats on it because of photos ect, coffee went on that as well.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Well after putting it back together it works, had to re set the time but the audio touch pad and all the keys seem to function.

The hard drive is mostly likely just fine. Take it out and use a universal adapter to access the data or put it in a n external enclosure. Use our guide on liquid damage to try to save the logic board. The uppercase has probably shorted out and will need replacement.

the HDD was fine, I managed to extract the data from it. I just did the logic board guide but haven't put it back together.

I think the laptop has insurance so it may just be worth it to pay the excess considering the upper body is worth 300, plus the logic board could be dead as well.
