Click wheel not functional

My iPod had some water spilled on it and the click wheel is no longer functioning. The device boots and resets using the play and center buttons, but I cannot scroll through the menus. Any ideas? I replaced the battery because it was no longer holding a charge as well.

The play function keys are actually embedded on the motherboard itself and the clickwheel's only actual function is scrolling, any other selection inputs are done via the motherboard. Since you have water damage, I would proceed with caution in replacing the clickwheel as it may not work after disassembly. Otherwise, if replacing the clickwheel doesn't fix the problem or ends up giving you more problems you would then continue to replcae your motherboard.
