Why does my display keep saying connected. I can disconnect
My screen says connected: eject before disconnecting, but it won't work or eject when I disconnect or hit the buttons.
Is this a good question?

maybe it's to late to answer the question
does the display always show the "eject before disconnecting" ?
i would first try to reset the iPod (press and hold the menu and select button until the iPod restarts)
if that won't help. look inside the headphone jack - is there a red spot ? (maybe a liquid damage)
if the problem still persists - check/clean the dock connector with IPA and a soft paintbrush.

I had this problem a few moments ago. Just reset the iPod (press and hold 'Menu' and center button) and when you see the Apple logo, stop holding the buttons for a second and hold them down again.
It worked for mine, and I hope it works for yours too.

Try reseting all of your settings from the iPod or computer.
