Problems after replacing PCB flex ribbon on HTC MyTouch 4G Slide?

A client of mine somehow tore the flex ribbon that attaches the keyboard and logic board side to the LCD/digitizer. The LCD would not turn on. It was difficult opening the slide but I was able to replace the torn flex ribbon attached to the back of the lcd screen. I put it back together but now the client says that he can't make phone calls, open apps,or text. Also, the bottom and side toolbars aren't working. Has anyone ever had this experience with a mytouch 4g slide? Could a hard reset fix these problems? If I do a hard reset, it won't remove apps or contacts right? Does anyone have any other ideas or thoughts I can try?

Please help! Thanks in advance.

3/21/14 UPDATE - I got the phone back from the customer. what's really happening is that the bottom part of the screen does not respond. I was REALLY careful with this repair and I never noticed/exerted any possible damage to the screen. Any ideas on troubleshooting this without having to replace the LCD as well? I'll have to eat any profit if I do bc the customer states the screen was working OK before the flex ribbon got torn. Possibly a known software issue? Thanks again.
