Why it keeps on shutting off?

why is my iphone 3Gs keeps on shutting off after few minutes, and it's never turning back on until i plug it with the charger or plug it in my computer. what is the best solution for this problem? please help me. a little will be highly appreciated

jay, " until i plug it with the charger or plug it in my computer" replace the battery. Here is the guide for it. the part is available at places like this as well as many others. Hope this helps, good luck.

Has the battery ever been replaced? The 3G/3GS iPhone parts are at the end of it's lifecycle(well, as far as I've noticed with how many requests I get for repairs for that model) Does it turn off around 50% of your battery charge? After it turns off, does it show the lightning bolt showing it's dead?
