Why does my iPod always tell me it's ont charge?

Well... The probleme is that I charge my iPod, can charge it during a complete day and after I unplug it, it continue to tell me it's still charging... It's annoying because then I can't close it and it's uncharging... I tried to let it alone for a long time, more than a month and retry, but it's still doing the same thing... I don't understand and really want to use it again, what can I do? Or Why it does this? Answer me please!

I tried this many times, but my iPod still won't shut off. I can do everything with it, but the battery logo's still there and it won't shut
