Does LCD metal back plate matter?

Hi Guys,

I scratched film on LCD metal back cover plate during the screen disassembly on iphone5.

However, when placing back, the display work just fine apart from that the screen might feel slightly hotter than it was before. (Or I might over sense here)

I'm not sure if I should continue using phone like this or should I really replace the back plate cover.

The attached image above is how it look. Can you let me know if it's ok to run iphone like this. Is the purpose of the film is to reduce the heat from the screen? Should I buy another back cover plate too?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Unlikely that the film is used for heat dissipation. Reflective film on LCD backing is usually for backlight reflection. If this was something that was visible than I would consider replacing the component. You should be good to go.

Hey drmdolfan, seem like it's not a big deal. So I'll continue using iPhone while waiting for the cover part that will be arrived for replacement then.

Thanks for your reply mate :)

I also scratch my metal shield while replacing an LCD. after that, the touch on letter U, I , J , K, N and M is not working? You think that scratch affects the specific portion of the lcd ? Cos' the scratch is where exactly on the place of those letters..
