2003 MItsubishi Lancer engine management light comes on?

I have a 1600cc mitsubishi lancer petrol engine 105hp. The engine is the power unit in my Proton Impian it has done 111000 miles and is a great car-2003

I have changed both coil packs and two HT leads. I was also doubtful about the fuel so that I half filled with super grade petrol and stuck in a quality injector cleaner

fluid at the same time. It has run well for two hundred miles or so -no light coming on and now the light has come on again, tank is 1/4-1/3 full.

My next plan is to change the plugs although they look to be OK and to replace the fuel filter and I think to empty and clean the tank in case of dirt or water being stuck in there. Am I making the right moves?

Thank you to IFIXIT and all you guys out there.

any chance that you can get it hooked up to a engine scanner to get a diagnostic trouble code readout?

"It has run well for two hundred miles or so -no light coming on" leads me to believe that it is more a emissions control issue

I know this is a year old question but if someone sees it, this answer is for them. FIND OUT first. Take the thing to an Auto Zone and get a free computer analysis before replacing parts willy nilly.

I suppose "Engine Management" is like our "Check Engine" lights. Usually these systems have diagnostic connections where you can hook up a code scanner to get some idea what the cause or causes of these lights are. Is the car running ok? See if you can get some more specific diagnostic code before trying to replace may be able to save some money.

Always good though to replace the cheap easy things especially if you haven't checked or replaced them beyond normal service levels.
