Screen problems after replacement

I've done a few touch 4th gen screen replacements and I'm used to getting a white screen after its been done. In the past a hard reset has always cleared this but this time I'm getting something different.

I turn on the ipod and all I get is a white screen. Hold down the sleep and home buttons and after around 5 seconds and the screen goes off, but no apple logo and nothing more happens. Pressing any button does nothing at all. Leave it 5mins and go back to it, press the sleep button and I get the white screen again. The same thing just keeps happening? Anyone any ideas?

Thank you.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Thanks con - yeah, don't fancy taking the battery out!! I'll try again with the hard reset. Do I let go of the buttons as soon as the white screen goes, then press the power button to turn it back on?

Failing that, i'll put the old screen back on and see if that works, that should tell me if the problem is the screen or the ipod I guess.

Mark battery is soldered in would be kinda hard to remove.

Try hard reset again hold power and home button togeather keep holding for about 3 seconds when screen turns off the let go of home and just press power hopefully you should see the apple logo..

If still white screen it's possible you have a defective screen

Ive just read online somewhere that a 'white screen' can be caused by a lack of a small metalic pad on the back of the digitiser connector. Do you know if this is true and if so, what does this 'pad' do?

by

This pad I have threw away many a time and not placed back on the connector. It's nothing to do with the white screen.. More than likely it's a faulty screen. Have you tryed the old one again to see if that works?

No, haven't trued it yet, didn't get chance last night - I just remember seeing the pad and the new screen not having one so thought i'd check. To be honest, at the time I couldn't see what use it had. Will check the old screen tonight. Is there any way of turning off the ipod when you can't use the screen?

Hold power and home button for 5 seconds then let go of both at same time should turn it off
