Late 2009 27" iMac White screen at startup after replacing hard drive.

So I have a late 2009 C2D 27" iMac (A1312 EMC 2309)

I just replaced the hard drive. I reassembled it, it powers up, I get the startup chord, and the screen goes full white. No access noises for either HD or internal SuperDrive. I cannot install from the commercial Snow Leopard disk (holding down the C key at boot did nothing)

I checked and found that the mobo end of the thin, 4 conductor flat ribbon cable (Vertical Sync) had gotten munged, so I replaced it, but I have the same symptoms.

Does anyone have any input on this? LVDS cable, maybe?

This is most likely a hard drive issue. See if you can format and put a system on your drive using another Mac, then put it back in.

Hi,

I've just replaced my dead drive and I'm experiencing the same symptoms. Blank startup manager, will not boot from original install media (keeps ejecting it), it will not load in target disk mode... ...if left to it's on devices I get flashing folder and question mark. I'm about to remove the drive to format it and was wondering if this fixed the issue you were experiencing.

Any additional advise is much appreciated!
