Is this guide work when ODD is ATA only (not serial ATA)?

I would like to upgrade my white iMac 24" (Late 2006) with a SSD. But I'm getting confuse if it will work with my configuration. The System report is showing the actual ODD as an ATA device while the HDD is a Serial ATA device.

So is the optical bay will work to connect a SSD in place of the current ODD ? What will be the hardware speed limitation in that case ? I read that putting the SSD instead of the current HDD and move HDD to current ODD is the best option but much more complex to do due to thermal sensors and cable length issues.

Any hints to let me understand better the picture here ?

Thanks

Here's the SSD/HD encoder you will need 12.7 mm PATA Optical Bay SATA Hard Drive Enclosure.

Yes, it can be confusing!

The letter P is for parallel (PATA) I/O where S is for serial (SATA) I/O interface. In this case you need a unit that converts between the two interfaces. Your system report will still show ATA (PATA) interface as it can't see the conversion to SATA on the other side of the unit.
