Why does my battery not charge?

I have a 17" MacBook Pro and it doesn't work unless I have the Ac adapter plugged in, I think its the DC board, but haven't checked, it might be a loose connection, but I wouldn't know how it got that way. Any suggestions?

Well it turns out that the previous owner has spilled water in the port and it was taken to an Apple specialist and they say its the magsafe port, the owner says it works if you more it around for 15min or so and I can get it to charge, but to fix this issue would I have replace the DC board?

If your unit works with the ac adapter my first impression is that the DC in is good. Check the battery cable connections and let us know what you find. Good luck Ralph
