The V2000 is a Compaq Presario notebook computer developed by HP under the Compaq name. The V2000 is the sibling of the HP DV1000, so the two share many features and specifications, though the DV1000 cost about USD $100 more when both computers were sold in the early 2000s.

penny, this is most likely a software error. Check on here for a few things you could try out. If F10 or F12 does not restore your operating system, you may have a bad partition or even a bad drive. Set your BIOS to boot from optical drive and run your computer from a Live Linux CD and see if you can access your hard drive and if it has multiple partitions. The smaller partition should be the one that contains your OS recovery. It can only recover the OS if it is still there, if anyone deleted or reformatted the drive, it most likely is no longer there, but see what you can find out.
