What is the maximum RAM that can be installed?

Hi all,

Does anyone know what the maximum RAM limit is for a 13' Late 2011 MacBook Pro? iFixit lists an 8GB RAM module under the device and states that it will be compatible with the MacBook, however the official Apple support page states that the maximum limit is 8GB.

Has anyone else used more than 8GB on this device successfully?

Apple officially supports a maximum of 8 GB of RAM, but third-parties have determined that this model actually is capable of using up to 16 GB of RAM with two 8 GB memory modules.

If you do plan to push your system to 16 GB. Make sure you have updated the EFI following this Apple TN EFI & SMC firmware updates for Intel-based Macs before you install the RAM.
