Bottom third of screen is grey. Any suggestions?

Bottom third of screen is cloudy grey. Still can see through it but it is difficult. Other solutions for similar appearing problem for 27" point to faulty/loose display cable. Problem appears identical to what they show. I don't know if I have the same cable or if others have discovered same problem with different solution. If the display itself is bad, how expensive is a replacement and where can I get one.
