How difficult is it to repair bottom center key?

After ruining my first s4 by damaging the side keys I enclosed it in an otter box. I have now managed to damage the front center key. I believe this key is referred to as the home key.

the key is dented in the center causing the device to light up by itself. The key wont function at all. Can I reset it by taking the device apart? Can I use a setting to bypass this key? I am using a touch screen setting now thatallows me to do all key functions by touch but the damaged key is still functioning.

Answer this question I have this problem too

You're going to most likely need to remove and replace the glass to fix this issue on the hardware end. This is because the actual 'clicker' of the button (underneath the physical button), is part of the same flex cable as the menu and back buttons. If you try to lift just the bottom of the glass, chances are you'll crack the glass at the bottom in the process. You'll also risk cracking the expensive LCD.

If you just want to fix it on the software side you can download an app called "Assistive Touch". This replicates the Assistive Touch for iOS devices. A software "button" will hover over top of any app you're in so that you can utilize the shortcuts (in this case, home button replication) from the Assistive Touch "app".
