Even second battery wont hold charge after overhaul

I have done a complete overhaul on my Video iPod. I have replaced the hard drive, logic board, and battery. Now the iPod works, but the battery will not hold a charge for more than 3 hours even after a full day charging cycle. I bought a second battery from ifixit. This battery will not hold a charge for more than 3 hours either.

The battery will run down if it's playing music, games, movies, or if it's completely inactive. The battery must be losing it's charge somehow, but I can't seem to figure out where.

The other parts I installed are a logic board: bought from ifixit (fixed the original problem and seems to work fine)

The replacement hard drive: from another company (seems to work fine)

The first battery: from another company

The second battery: from ifixit

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi,

if you hadn't changed the logic board, i would say that the logic board is damaged.

So we start from scratch. Follow the instructions given in this manual: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1322?viewl...

If the time you get out of the battery is below the time given for your iPod, let us know and we will help you to fix that.

I followed the directions on the support site that you recommended, fully charged the iPod, and started playing the music files. With the display off and at the suggested volume.

I managed to only get 4.5 hours. This is the amount of time that I can usually get, even if the iPod isn't playing music, movies, or games, and is completely shut down.

I disassembled the iPod today to recheck my connections and didn't see any problems. I also didn't see any damage to the ribbon wires.

On to the next step. I would ask for another logic board, because yours seems to me like it is damaged. I had the same problem like you (Worked fine, but only 3 hours of battery life) and another logic board fixed the problem.
