How important is the front panel assembly cable bracket

I've had a run in with a screen replacement shop - they repaired a cracked screen in September but the displays functionality has been on the decline now for a month.

It's now unusable (colour lines blur & distort - then cut out) - when I took it back they stated "dust" was the issue - getting a second opinion it transpires they never attached the front panel assembly cable bracket - I understand this acts as a protector if the ribbon becomes detached but could it's lack of presence actually destroy the ribbon?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Sounds like a cheap screen.

Not including the bracket is certainly not a professional installation, but no the bracket isn't to blame. It was most likely the cheapest low quality refurb screen available, which often have problems just like this.

Done in September, shop stated they have a 28 day guarantee - lesson learnt I think! Have ordered a screen to fit myself.
