logic board dead, can I use my display as monitor

my imac turn on and my display is on , can I take a cable DVI from my imac to an external Tower G5 DVI port for using my display with my desktop G5 tower?

I don't think its worth the effort to recycle the display. The output connector is intended to plug in an external display (outward). It is not designed to accept an inbound DVI signal, besides the logic would need to be functional to process the signal to then display it (not designed to do this).

In order to do it you will need to pull the display out (or remanufacture the case) so you can add the needed converter box and the needed power supply.
