new LCD dim, no backlight

I just installed a new lcd in my MacBook Model A1181. It worked great for about 24 hours and then all of a sudden the display went dark. You can still just barely make out the display, but there is no backlight behind it. Occasionally, the display will gradually rebrighten, but then it quickly goes black again. Like I said, you can see the graphics are there, but there is no light coming from the display. I can see the brightness level go up and down when I press the keys, but it does not effect the brightness. Was wondering if maybe a cable is pinching or something like that. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate the feedback.

Thanks, Jason

I think the hinge was tugging on the inverter cord, causing the connection to the inverter board to come loose. I opened it back up and moved the inverter cord into a new position less likely to be jostled by the hinge, and so far so good.

Most likely the inverter board. Do you sometimes have the lightning back when moving the lid up and down ? If so the inverter cable would be the culprit but your symptoms lead to a bad inverter. Did your try a PMU reset ?

I tried the SMC reset, but it didn't work. I'm afraid I'm going to have to open it up again and check the inverter cables and connections. Just dreading doing it again.
