How should I bend my connector back into place?

While my 1st gen iPod Touch was connected to my computer, I managed to drop it about 2 feet onto the carpet. Since then, the iPod will only charge if upwards pressure is applied to the charger connector.

To charge my iPod currently, I have to place a small item such as a pen under the charger part and press down slightly on the iPod to get it to charge.

This leads me to believe the connector in my iPod is bent slightly. Nothing seems obviously out of place. What would be the best procedure to move it back into position?

I think bending is the wrong way - when you bend a circuit board - somthing will be damaged!

i think that the dock connectors soldering is damaged and needs to be resoldered

as you can see in the logic board guide

the 30 connector contacts are soldered - if one of the used contacts is "broken" (well the soldering might be broken, the contact will break if you bend it enough,if something goes really wrong - the logic board will get faulty).

i don't know how experienced you are with soldering irons, especially with smd tools and parts - but without fixing it - you will kill the iPod's logicboard
