Can the iPhone 5 battery be used in iPhone 5S?

I have an iPhone 5s that was water damaged. I have cleaned it up and don't see any residue or corrosion. However, the phone refuses to charge, and I am thinking it may be the battery that needs to be replaced. However, I can't find the iPhone 5s battery for sale in any reputed places (e.g., at iFixit).

Question: can I use the iPhone 5 battery in iPhone 5s? Are the connectors the same? I know the capacity of the 5 battery is about 8% less than 5s battery, but that should not be a huge issue.

no, they are totally different connectors, i know cause i made the same mistake, and had to purchase another battery....THEY NOT THE SAME

I have a problem with my iphone 5. I just had the battery replaced about 5 months ago and the charger chord was working fine with it then.

Then about a month ago, I bought a new charger chord and it worked fine for less than a month.

Now the phone won't charge with that new chord when plugged into the outlet. Even when I tried numerous chargers, it still doesn't charge. So, I'm beginning to think that the person who replaced my battery gave me the wrong type of battery.

The other day at that place, the guy there said that there shouldn't be that much of a difference. I think he just said that because he didn't feel like replacing a battery at that time.

I'm gonna go back and let him know that there IS a difference between the two batteries and that I want it changed again without being charged.

Are you sure? I am looking at the connector images on some ebay listings for 5 and 5S and they look the same.

i5 has a 5port connector and a 5s has a 4port connector.

Most of the time eBay shows the earliest or latest model pics for example what the find off the internet don't always believe them also when you click on a listing make sure it's not got sub menus as that's properly where your going wrong

Yes, of course you can take the connector off the old battery and re-solder it onto a new one. TIP: Before starting the process, make sure you are wearing goggles, a Fireman's fireproof suit and fireproof gloves, (you'll need the special ones with fine, fireproof material fingers, so you can still manipulate the small connector) - Oh, and check to make sure your house insurance is up to date, and not invalidated by you doing something totally and utterly stupid! Have fun and ask your Mum to put a post on this messageboard when she gets back from the funeral, to let us all know how it went!

From what I've seen 5 needs a 5 and 5c and 5s use same battery just what I've seen on e bay anyways

Can't you take the connection off the old batter and solder the old connection to to new battery

@nicholasvotolato Nope. Some of the lines are completely different, or non-existent across different batteries for different model iPhones.
