Replaced Power and Sensor cable, now Earpiece doesn't work?

Hi there,

I wasn't able to use the power button on my iPhone, so I replaced the Power and Sensor cable.

Everything works fine now except for the Earpiece Speaker, which doesn't work at all.

Could this be another bad Power and Sensor cable or do I need to replace the Earpiece Speaker? How could this have broke during the repair? Physically, the Earpiece Speaker looks fine. The foam didn't tear at all when I removed it from the original cable.

One thing I noticed is that while the Earpiece Speaker sticks on to the Power and Sensor cable, there doesn't seem to be any electrical connection between the cable and the Earpiece. Could that be the problem?

Thanks!

Robert.

The earpiece speaker connects to the logic board with two spring contacts as seen in this picture. To start, double check to ensure that the speaker is oriented properly and that the spring contacts are sticking up far enough to make contact when the logic board is installed. If the spring contacts are missing or damaged, then your speaker will need to be replaced.

Good luck!

Thanks! Does the side with the spring contacts attach to the cable? My recollection is this side of the earpiece is what attaches to the cable. If that's the case, do the spring contacts just sit against the case or do they physically make contact with something?

Thanks!

by the way you talking you have it the wrong road about it should be fitted like this picture and the prongs should be at the top of the phone.. the prongs make contact to the motherboard if you look under it you will see to long gold contacts[image|315668]

Thanks! Apparently I did have it in backwards. I'll give it another try and hopefully it works this time.

Con, the part you have highlighted in the picture above is the grounding clip for the camera? is that a mistake? did you mean to put the red box around the speaker showing the prongs?

by

Con was not intending to highlight the grounding clip. The picture that he selected already had the Dozuki highlight in it. He merely selected that pic because it shows the prongs really well...

Thanks Joshua yea was the only good pic I could find lol
