MBPro1286_FW800 port not seeing video camera fw port

Using a mini FW cable to FW400 to Sonnet adaptor FW800

OSX10.5.8

Final Cut Studio latest

Won't see my Panasonic DVX100 as VTR through this FW800 port even with another miniFW to FW800 cable.

I know it's not the port cut I'm using it for music to MOTU Traveler and ext HD's.

I need to capture the footage and I know the camera jack is fine

cuz I tested it on my daughter's MacBook FW400 port to iMovie

it just captures the shots in wrong rez and setup (23.98 fps).

Does anyone know of a firmware update or a third party utility

that makes the FW800 port see peripherals?????

Sounds like the adaptor

isn't working. ''Target boot (T) your daughters machine. Connect the camera to it then connect her machine to your machine via USB. '' Launch FCP.
