Recently, I used one of the guides to replace my battery. I put in the new battery fine, but after charging it wont turn on. When i plug the charger in the screen remains blank. Is it a problem with the battery or the iPod itself? Any suggestion?

there are a few possible problems that can occur
check the losderings, measure the battery with a voltmeter
if you shorted the battery while soldering it into the iPod - it could have something around 0v
it would never charge properly on most computers - thy deliver not enough power to get to the ~3.7v for the device to work.
sometimes the usb power adapter is the better choice
