While on call headphone mic doesn't work

I have this problem with my iPhone 4S, while I'm on a call or facetime or even voice memo's the headphone mic doesn't work. while on facetime or on a call I can hear the other person but my voice is not going across. I have bought 4 new headphones with mics but the problem is still there. Now should I take the phone to apple or I might get a solution for it here. Please help. I need use use the headphones when I'm driving.

Options

There may be some debris stuck in the headphone jack. Try air dusting it out first, and if that doesn't work you may need to replace the headphone jack. The guide is in the link below. Good luck!
