Phone occasionally thinks headphones are plugged in

Occasionally and becoming more and more common everyday my phone thinks it has headphones plugged in. I rarely use headphones. I've tried using compressed air to get any lint out that might have been stuck in there but still does it. Any ideas are appreciated. I'm wondering if I should just replace the dock/headphone cable if that might fix my issue.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Hi tgardner1287,

Have you tried restoring your phone? Or if you haven't yet, try updating to the latest IOS version?

You should try using a small brush to clean your headphone jack. If you are still having problems you may need to replace your headphone jack.

I know I'm stupid, but I dropped my iPhone 5c into my bath!!

long story on how it happened...

Really could do with some advise you get it back to normal, because it says 'headphones' are plugged in when they're not.

I've tried, brushing the headphone jack, sticking tissue and even an ear bud down it!! And blown cold air from a hair dryer into it. nothing seems to work for me:(

Please give me advise. Tell me on my Instagram: @ig.amyyx

Thank you all so much!! Sorry this wasn't a helpful post!! :( :( :(
