Where is the starter located?
prepairing to replace starter on 2002 pontiac bonneville and want to get info on starters location on 3800 engine

Roy, you will need the following tools:
15mm socket with 6" extension for the main bolts.
13mm deep socket with 3/8" ratchet for the power cable.
8mm socket with 1/4" ratchet for the solenoid wire.
Remove or disconnect the following:
Negative battery cable
Flexplate inspection cover
Splash shield, if equipped
Electrical connectors
Transmission cooler line clip from the transmission, if necessary
Starter motor wiring
Starter motor bolts
Starter
To install:
Install or connect the following:
Starter and torque the bolts to 32 ft. lbs. (43 Nm)
Wiring and torque the -B- terminal nut to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm) and the -S- terminal nut to 22 inch lbs. (3 Nm).
Flexplate inspection cover and torque the bolts to 62 inch lbs. (7 Nm)
Splash shield
Negative battery cable
