iPod will not stay on unless plugged in at an angle?

So my Ipod Classic(80gb) will not stay on unless it is plugged in and the cable is pushed in at a certain angle. It will stay on if i stick my finger in the slow and try to move the parts and hold it there, so it's not exactly a "charging" or actual battery problem and possibly some connectors or something. How can I fix this?

Options

First try a new cable and cleaning the connecting point with a clean toothbrush to see if this will have an impact before opening it up
