no backlight, Water damage

hi my sister has an iPhone 3GS,however she droped it in the bath!! everthing works apart from the backlight,is there any way at all of repairing it without sending it to apple,like a bypass on the ic,i dont want to send it as had a quote of £360 pounds many thanks aaron

I would first try to clean the logicboard with rubbing alcohol, check all the connectors for burn signs.

bypassing an ic is never a good idea - apart from being useful.

sometimes the contacts are "only" bruned away and can be painted back on with conductive silver (but thats not easy at all - but possible)
