seeking to clone hard drive to external hard drive formatted originally for pc.
I need to reformat. also seeking to clone for full backup as am getting serviced.
am using parallels running 3 apps in windows xp pro that would like to copy as well

for the cloning. Run Disk Utilities on the external drive before hand and reformat osx extended and do one partition, option GUID. If you need an adapter connector here's one that works great: http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Newer%20T...

cloning is easy - as richard said, you can use superduper or CarbonCopyCloner. i always use CCC, but they are alike, they do the same - so choose what you like.
