No sound from headphone or dock

Ashley, this particular model has a problem with the audio IC on the logic board. You can try and see if you get sounds by applying some pressure to the right lower side of the ipod, almost between the click wheel and the bottom corner. If you should get sound by doing so, then you only have very few options. One is a new logic board for about $40 on eBay; the other one is to reflow your old logic board. The logic board is of course available at ifixit as well." You could also try a quick diagnostics test and place the iPod in a freezer for a short while. The low temperature may close a broken solder connection which then causes the IC to work again. Remember that the temperature difference from freezer to room temperature can cause increased humidity inside your iPod, which can lead to corrosion on the hard drive etc. Hope this helps, good luck.
