Why when plugged into jack in the car it won't read playlists?

When I plug my iPod into the jack provided from Cadillac (GM) it no longer reads "GM" on my iPod. It is displaying USB port. The "Playlist" option is gone and instead it now reads "Folder". I tried going to dealer, they said it's the iPod, I tried the Apple store, they say it's my car. I called and spoke with both Apple & General Motors, neither one can figure it out. Apple said that my car is reading the Hardware instead of the software - seeing raw music files. Any help getting my iPod to talk nice to my car again???

Hi,

i had an iPod acting normal, but when hooked to my car audio it couldn't get a connection. After a long search i found out that the logic board of my iPod was damaged. As you don't know if its the car or the iPod, it would be the easiest way to try another iPod to hook up to your Cadillac and see if the GM-Playlist will appear again or not. Then you will know if it's a Cadillac or Apple issue.

Thank you! I tried plugging in another iPod and that one worked. I will bring my iPod back to the applie store and ask them to take a look at the "logic board". :-)
