Won't boot. Led 1 and 2 on then both off.

With the power cord plugged in led 1 is lit. When I push the power button led 2 lights briefly then both led's turn off. I have to unplug the power cord and plug it back in, in order to get led 1 lit again.

I'm not sure whether I would need to replace the psu or the logic board.

If it is the logic board has anybody had any luck with the logic board repair places that you can find on ebay?

There is no start up chime at all either.

Options

Sounds like a PSU to logic board problem. LED #1 is supposed to be on when a trickle charge is present (e.g. the unit is plugged into the wall). LED #2 lights and should stay lit when the PSU provides steady power to the logic board. I would suspect the PSU. If you're going to pull and replace it you can visually inspect it for swollen caps (this is a known problem with some PSUs).

I pulled the psu and I didn't see any signs of excessive heat or bulging caps. I tried a start-up with minimum config...pulled everything off the logic board and tried booting with just the logic board. I found a psu for $40 and ordered it. That's cheaper by more than half compared to what I had being seeing it everywhere else. My concern was that I had seen a lot of forum posts from others that had diagnosed the same symptoms as a psu, but after replacing it had the same issue.

You could end up being a part of that group. Unfortunately without expensive diagnostic machines trial and error is about the only tool a DIYer has.

I should receive the psu early next week and then I'll know for sure. If it turns out not to be the psu I'm investigating sending the logic board in to an outfit on ebay to have it reballed or reflowed.
