MacBook White 13-inch Early 2009 Screen Blacked out

when i turn on my macbook i hear the startup chime after that the screen blacks out but the computer is still running. i have already tried resetting the PRAM.

Options

Connect to an external monitor... if you still see a black screen your VGU/VGU is shot. If you see a normal image the problem is in your interlal display chain.... could be a controller/cable or display.
