Replace HDD with SSD and Superdrive with HDD

Hi –

I have seen plenty of guides for replacing the HDD in a 24inch, early 2008 iMac with an SSD but I'm looking to put that spare HDD in the Superdrive slot too. My Superdrive is currently not working so it makes sense to have an SSD as a startup disk and utilise the old HDD as a scratch disk or drive for files. Does anyone know what I'd need to be able to do this and whether it's actually possible with the existing connectors?

Many thanks

You need an Optibay kit… Otherworld Computing would be my go to source.

Thanks machead3. I just took a look at the Optibay kit but it doesn't say that it comes with a PATA to SATA connector, although I'm sure it must?

I don't know... talk to OWC about it. They can set you up with what you need.
