Unable to adjust sound, remains very low, ear buds OK

No problems with sound until today. Battery fully charged, sound level in settings set to highest level yet the sound cannot be increased nor decreased. Clicking sound can be heard sometimes but still remains at same very low level. Tried different ear buds with the same result. I would like to have it fixed but sometimes the repair cost is more than replacement. I would appreciate any advice/suggestions. It has worked beautifully for several years and prefer this size.

Problem solved. Looked online and saw an article that explained how to reset the Ipod Nano. I decided to give that a try and it worked; now my ipod is back to normal. Incidentally, my ipod is the Nano 5th generation.

What a relief, hopefully this will help others that may get/have the same problem.
