upgrading MacBook Pro 17

I just got one on eBay my first mac… I'm going to update/upgrade a lot. I know I can put a 1tb ssd hard drive in it but can I put a 2tb hard drive in it. Is it worth putting i7 chip in it or should I keep the i5 chip in it. If anyone has any more things I should do let me know and I'm putting 16gb ram in it with a blu-ray player. Thanks PS I don't know if or what airport card it has. So what's the highest/best airport card for it and thanks again.

You can't change the chips on most laptops - they are professionally soldered to the logic board. You could put a complete i7 logic board in it, however if you have a 17" 2011 MBP it is already an i7 - they made no i5 17" machines ''.

Max the RAM to 16GB ,

The best airport card is the one currently in it - you can not upgrade to 802.11ac

All of these MacBook Pro models support a 2.5" notebook hard drive or SSD that is up to 9.5 mm tall (0.37 inches) and use a SATA interface, but the maximum SATA interface speed of different models varies, look up your specific machine.
