Replaced Power Button Flex Cable - Proximity working Button still not?

My girlfriend's iPhone's power button has been broken for months now after she let her phone fall, so I decided to fix it. I bought a new power button proximity light sensor flex cable from China via eBay.

The previous button wouldn't even press/click and after disassembling the phone, I noticed that it indeed could not click, as the black tip of the switch did not exist as it probably broke off.

So after replacing the switch-sensor-ribbon piece, the button does click now. I was looking forward to it working again, but unfortunately after reassembly, it's still defect. I've tested the proximity sensor and it does works, so it can't be the ribbon connection that's bad...

Could it be a partially broken component I ordered or is it something on the logic board? There is definitely no visible tear on the flex cable...

I'm even trying to figure out how to test connectivity with my DMM (is that possible? has anyone got any experience?) it's a pretty small component.

Thank you! :)

Answer this question I have this problem too

Update on this: I tested the old power power button and realized that it actually does work, but it just does not click due to the black plastic tip missing. So i decided to transfer this plastic tip from the newly ordered power button to the old one with some glue (as the newly order piece does not work anyway (probably due to it being a partially broken replacement order from China)). In the end, I managed to fix the power button... it does not click as it originally did, but it works fine! Cheers...

My power button gave out (pretty common problem) and would not work/click anymore either. I replaced mine with a cable off of ebay, but from a USA seller. Everything went back together well and my sensor works as well, but my power button still remains non functioning. It also clicks like its supposed to again, but just doesnt function.

I really hope someone can chime in!
