The best way to use a dishwasher

Please run the hot water in the kitchen sink before running the dishwasher. This will allow the maximum amount of hot water to enter the dishwashwer so it can do it's job properly. Also every 6 months take the spray arms out of the washer and remove the bits of trash that get stuck in the spray holes. Dirty water recirculates thru the spray arms and bits of trash get stuck in the spray holes. This causes bad spray patterns and improper cleaning and spraying. Using tweezers or hemostats can help quite a bit.

Before running hot water ensure your dishwasher has a hot water feed. Most modern dishwashers only have a cold water feed and heat the water as necessary.
