How much free space do you have on the hard drive? Do a force quit to see if things are running in the background. (option, command + escape)

Its possible that there is a loose connection somewhere within the machine, as an intermittent connection between a device with an integrated thermal sensor (such as the trackpad), will cause the sensor to misread, slowing the machine down considerably... but you'd have to open it and check all the connections.

Other than that, it could be a grounding issue, but that would imply that there are important screws missing, as certain logic board screws are used to ground the logic to the aluminium housing. Were there any screws left over afterwards?

Reset the PRAM and the SMC and see if that helps to start with, then reseat the internal connections and inspect cables to make sure none are damaged or split.

i hope this helps
