What hardware component is affected - needs replacement?

Extended AHT reveals hardware problem with: 4VDC/1/40000003: Video Controller. Screen showed 'static-induced black flashing patches' before ending up with gray-screen "You need to reboot" message. A reboot simply goes back to gray-screen message. What component needs to be addressed, replaced?

Sounds like the Nvidia card. Not a DIY repair.
