Why doesn't my RCA P52929YX4 Rear-Projection TV power On?

I have an RCA Rear-Projection TV, and it doesn't power on at all. All I hear is a ticking noise as soon as I plug the TV into the Power Outlet. We have replaced the fuse, but that didn't seem to fix anything, so now I really need help. It is a really nice TV, and I don't want it to go to waste. We want to throw it away, but we don't want to find out later that the problem was fixable, and we threw away the TV for nothing.

Danny,

90% sure that it's the power supply. Nothing should ever be thrown away because of a power supply, since they're the easiest subassembly to fix in just about anything. If it is the power supply, however, you should have a technician look at it. A standard warning on electronics is "No user serviceable parts inside," and for good reason. Have you ever been tasered? Getting across 120VAC is worse.

I don't know if I would call that exactly a 'repair guide'. More like the first 30 seconds of a 3 year TV repair training course. :-)
