High Fan RPM, Crashes Often, No High Temps! Help!

I know this question may have been asked, but I've done just about everything I can. I have no warranty and I'm a first time Apple Computer. I've downloaded iStat and SMCfancontrol. CPU temps run at about 30-32 degrees Celsius and CPU fan runs at 3900rpm.

SMCfancontrol doesn't help,Ive tried SMC reset as well as PRAM with no luck. This starts as soon as I boot up. I don't have the install disks to run the Apple Hardware Tests.

Every forum I've looked into trying to solve the problem has the issue of people not reporting back to what their problems were. Or how they have actually fixed them. Any ideas?

Thanks!

I feel your pain. I have exact same issue and I am starting to think it is a SMC firmware issue as the AHT, and ASD diags both show no error. the fans all run OK and can be controlled manually via smc command-line.

I's happened to me with iMac 24inches and first time they changed my motherboard. After a while, it's happened again and I performed a Hardwaretest. It saw the same diagnotic message : then they changed my power supply module and they fixed my problem. So now it looks good.

Kind regards

It would be useful to run the AHT.. I bought replacement DVD's from Apple for around $20.00AUD ea. Well worth it IMO

Your local apple store may at least test it for you free??

Either way If you post any errors for analysis it will assist
