Hard drive spins for 1 second then dies, no screen?

The battery is fine the ram is seated properly the hard drive is fine, but all that happens when I push the power button is it spins the hard drive once and then cuts out. No screen, no white light.

Options

Disconnect the hard drive and let us know if it will boot from the original system installation DVD.

It seemed completely dead now that I removed the hard drive, No Sounds or lights, And it wouldn't accept the dvd. I didn't want to smash it in though.
